This is a wonderful reminder today and any time we feel helpless. God is our help in times of helplessness. But so many times, we see Him as our last line of defense instead of our first.
For some reason, we feel compelled to fix situations ourselves. We look for ways to solve our own problems (oftentimes creating bigger messes in the process).
So what are we to do? The first verse of this chapter says, “I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?”
In times of trouble, the first thing we should do is LIFT UP OUR EYES. Those who are downcast in spirit hang their heads in defeat. But we, the children of God, have a Heavenly Father that is never defeated. So, we should no longer hang our heads in defeat, but lift our eyes and fix them on the answer to our troubles!
Next, we should immediately RECOGNIZE our help comes from the Lord. You can do everything conceivable to fix your problems. But without God, you will inevitably fail to do the best thing. So why wait to recognize He is the first line of defense and not the last?
This is your reminder today: look up and recognize the truest and best help. You are not defeated. You’re a child of the King of Kings. Walk in His way and He will do the rest!

“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This was Jesus’ response to people who accused him of being possessed by demons. People like to use it for different scenarios, but really Jesus was talking about himself here. He was not a demon casting out demons. That would be a terrible plan for a demon trying to take over the world anyway!
The people accusing him of this? The teachers of the law and even some of his family! You and I would think, if they truly believed this, they obviously didn’t truly know Him.
This should be a challenge to us to continue to truly know the Lord. We don’t want to be pulled in different directions by people who want to define Christ in their own terms (there are a lot of those voices out there). The more we know our Savior, the less the world’s lies can take root in our lives. So keep digging into His word, praying, attending a Bible-believing church and surrounding yourselves with people who are walking the same direction you are in your faith. This way, you won’t be carried away with the untruths about God and His grace that float around out there! Stick to knowing Him up close and personally. He’s willing and waiting for you.

“If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭3‬:‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬
